Message	ing. He talks about split DPs, and discusses rules of thumb on how long the split portion should be for minimizing turbulence when the pipes are merged. If you're looking to save money, just get the ones for 200 bucks that you mentioned (who makes them, what is the design, what is the material, what diameter) these are all important things to know. Once you have more money you should upgrade to stainless steel split design.
